Endocrine Surgery
Surgical treatment of thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal gland disorders, focused on preserving hormone balance and the critical structures around these glands.
Endocrine Surgery in Tekirdağ
Endocrine surgery covers operations on the hormone-producing glands: the thyroid, the parathyroids and the adrenal glands. What these procedures share is that although they appear technically small, they are performed in immediate proximity to delicate structures.
Areas Covered
- Thyroid surgery — goitre, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, Graves' disease
- Parathyroid surgery — hyperparathyroidism, high blood calcium, recurrent kidney stones
- Adrenal surgery — hormone-secreting tumours and adrenal masses
What Requires Particular Care
In thyroid operations, protecting the recurrent laryngeal nerve that moves the vocal cords and the parathyroid glands that regulate blood calcium is decisive. In adrenal surgery, medical preparation before the operation is a precondition for safety in hormone-active tumours. For this reason, endocrine surgical decisions are made together with an endocrinologist.
Does Every Nodule Need Surgery?
No. The great majority of thyroid nodules are benign and are simply monitored. The same applies to small adrenal masses found incidentally. Surgery is considered on the basis of biopsy results, hormone production, size and pressure symptoms.
